COLO SPRGS, CO (May 19, 2025) – USA Shooting is excited to announce the hiring of Dwayne Weger as the National Shotgun Team Manager. A longtime competitor, coach, and team leader, Weger brings decades of experience and a lifelong dedication to the shooting sports that will help guide Team USA Shotgun athletes through the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and beyond.
Weger is no stranger to USA Shooting, having served in multiple leadership roles on the international stage. He was the team lead for the Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016, and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and a coach at the Tokyo 2020 Games. He also served as the personal coach to Brian Burrows, who earned a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
“I’ve been involved in this sport for almost 30 years, and I am extremely excited to have an opportunity to help our team continue their path towards gold at the Los Angeles 2028 Games and beyond,” said Dwayne Weger.
A native Texan and lifelong outdoorsman, Weger’s shooting journey began at just six years old, when he received his first shotgun as a birthday gift. Taught firearm safety and marksmanship by his father and grandfathers, Weger quickly developed a passion for competitive shooting. He went on to represent Team USA at the 2006 Cairo World Cup and has remained deeply involved in the sport ever since.
His appointment comes at a key moment for USA Shooting’s shotgun program, as the team looks ahead to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and works to strengthen America’s position as a global leader in the shooting sports.
USA Shooting is thrilled to welcome Dwayne Weger to this pivotal leadership role as we continue our mission to prepare American athletes to win medals and represent our nation with pride on the world stage.
