Biography:

William McMillan is known throughout the pistol world as one of the most infamous and most successful in pistol history.

McMillan enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1946. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1953 and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1974. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars.

McMillan is known not only for his expertise in pistol, but also his trick shooting.

In 1978, McMillan was injured while working as a Weapons Training Coordinator in San Diego, California, while training on Camp Elliot.
The McMillan Marine Corps trophy, established in 1980, is a renound award given by the Marine Corps at Camp Perry.

Mr. McMillan is survived by his sons, Matthew McMillan of Escondido and Billy McMillan of San Diego; daughter Karen McMillan of Carlsbad; and sister Clara Szumetz of Hagerstown, Md.
